Hygiene on the move

The Reality of Hygiene When You Are Away From Home

By admin · · 1 min read

In Kenya, many of us have experienced the same situation.

You are at a restaurant, shopping centre, petrol station, school, sporting facility or public event. You need to wash your hands—but the available soap may be missing, the dispenser may be empty, or you may simply not be comfortable using a shared bar of soap.

Sometimes, even when soap is available, it may not offer the experience you want.

For people who are conscious about their skin, fragrance, cleanliness and personal comfort, using an unfamiliar product in a public facility is not always ideal.

And when you are travelling, the problem becomes even more obvious.

You cannot always depend on finding clean water and quality soap exactly when you need it.

WHO’s community hand-hygiene guidance recognizes this challenge: effective hygiene depends not only on knowing that we should clean our hands, but also on having convenient access to the necessary materials when and where they are needed.

That is why we believe personal hygiene should be portable.
